New Cancer Diagnosis

A new diagnosis can bring about uncertainty and worry to the patient and their wider family. During this time you may be looking for support outside of this immediate circle. The Cancer Care Navigator service located at West Suffolk Hospital can help you with any concerns that a cancer diagnosis may bring.  They can give you a chance to discuss your physical and emotional health and wellbeing and has information on local activities and resources such as exercise programmes, benefits advice, support groups and complementary therapy.  This is a fantastic service available to our patients. Please reach out to them if they can be of support to you or someone you know who may have had a cancer diagnosis. Their contact details are: -

Health & Wellbeing Coaching and Social Prescribing

What does a Health and Wellbeing coach do?

Health and wellbeing coaches work with people with physical and mental health conditions, long-term conditions and those at risk of developing them. Coaches support people to think through their own challenges and goals. A health & wellbeing coach can help patients identify positive behaviour changes to improve their lifestyle, resulting in better physical and mental health outcomes.

What is Social Prescribing?

Social prescribers connect people with local community activities and services that can help improve their health and wellbeing. Social prescribing also links patients with appropriate support and guidance which has been shown to improve physical and mental health outcomes, reduce loneliness and social isolation and improve wellbeing.
